    Our Green Initiatives

    Sustainability Week

From 16 to 20 September 2013, Green Building Councils in 98 countries will host events, run campaigns and celebrate World Green Building Week under the theme: 'Greener Buildings, Better Places, Healthier People'.
Skanska Property Poland is also taking part in this initiative – we are holding Car Free Week.

During this week we are organizing events aiming at raising people awareness and promoting behaviors related to sustainable development.

In order to convince our employees that using public transport is both beneficial for the environment and convenient for users, they will receive free tickets for public transport. We truly believe it will be an impetus to changing our habits and to take care of our environment on a daily basis.

What is more, to promote healthy lifestyle and at the same time enjoy last sunny days of summer, on Monday we are organizing Skanska Bike Trip! We will ride 20km, visiting some sustainable building and areas in Warsaw. By doing this we want to take sustainability to the next level, go beyond our work – everything to ensure that we are up-to-date with the market and to understand that not only our projects are environmental-friendly but also could be people-friendly places.

On Wednesday, in cooperation with STENA, collection of the electronic waste is organized in Deloitte House’s main lobby. It will be great possibility for building’s tenants to get rid of electronic wastes. Everyone who will contribute to the collection will receive brochure with sustainable tips.

Project for Public Spaces in Warsaw

Project aims to revitalise abandoned and unkempt places with a hidden potential. Project is realized in cooperation with NGOs, local community and local government. The whole process is based on Placemaking actions, prepared and developed by American organization called Project for Public Spaces. "Na miejscu" Foundation has decided to apply the Placemaking strategy in Warsaw. Skanska has decided to support the project and become its partner, as a company who has an influence on city growth and an expert in sustainable development. We have chosen two places which would take part in the project - Mariensztat in Śródmieście District and a square next to Krochmalna street, in Wola District. The choice is based on Skanska's longterm relations and investments in Wola district.

Project is financed by Stefan Batory foundation Realisation: "Na miejscu" Foundation, Project For Public Spaces Foundation Partners: Skanska, Urząd Dzielnicy Śródmieście Warszawy i Urząd Dzielnicy Wola Warszawy
