Skanska provided construction management services to Detroit Medical Center in the building of the new Cardiovascular Institute and Outpatient Services Building. Skanska approached this six story building as a joint venture with Jenkins Construction. The Institute supports various services to both inpatients and outpatients, including interventional cardiovascular, non-interventional cardiovascular and surgery services. Two floors are also shelled for the development of clinical offices, and there will be small demolition and renovations in order to connect the new corridors with existing buildings. The building and site work will be LEED® Certified.
To limit interruptions to the daily activities of the hospital and the existing site utilities, we coordinated and planned for deliveries and monitored traffic control, hospital access and pedestrian requirements. There were also exploratory excavations to locate utilities.
