Over 20,000 square meters of office space in phase II of Centrum Południe by Skanska has become the new office of BNY – a global financial services company. This is 13 floors, each equipped with solutions that impact water and energy efficiency. The office, evaluated by independent experts as part of the LEED Commercial Interiors certification, received the highest score in the country and the second highest in Europe.
In April 2024, BNY moved to Centrum Południe 3 building, occupying 207 k sq. ft, consolidating teams previously located in separate buildings in Wroclaw. BNY chose Skanska's building for its sustainable and innovative solutions, as well as its central location and carefully designed indoor and outdoor space. Employees have access to various workspaces adjusted to multiple working styles, integration and relaxation areas, such as a public basketball court. Each floor offers unlimited access to 40-meter fully equipped loggias that serve as outdoor work and meeting spaces with city views.
Sustainable Interiors on a Large Scale
The interiors of BNY's office achieved the highest score in Poland and second in Europe under the LEED Commercial Interiors international certification. This certificate was another addition to BNY’s collection. 59% of BNY’s real estate portfolio hold a green building certification of some kind (LEED, ISO 14001, BREEAM, Energy Star), according to its most recent 2023 public reporting.
The office in Poland was designed to provide natural light, clean air, and consistent proper temperature. In the building we will also find wholesome food and infrastructure supporting physical and mental health. At staff’s disposal are 13 floors of office space with sit-stand desks, multiple types of collaboration and focus spaces. Each floor has a fully equipped kitchen and additional coffee points.
Showers and change rooms are located on the ground floor. To enhance the employees comfort company provides quiet room with comfortable chairs and mood light, minigolf room, all faith rooms as well as coffee bar with selection of free fair-trade coffees but also fresh food served every day. There is also a Health Center, providing mental health support via a dedicated Wellbeing Support Clinician (offering counselling and therapy), preventative health and musculoskeletal services, yoga and other fitness classes.
- It is a very exciting time for BNY in Poland. We opened our first office here in 2010 with 50 employees and now are named as one of BNY’s six strategic growth locations, employing thousands of people locally. We have moved to the new office to improve our people’s experience and sense of belonging when we’re together and our new location in Wroclaw offers that - a working environment that is focused on innovation, collaboration and building an environment where teams thrive, and opportunities grow. My Co-Site Executive, Kritikhaa Natarajan, and I are excited to continue strengthening the significance of our Polish office – said Gerard O’Keefe, Co-Site Executive, BNY Poland.
- The interior design reflects our approach towards crafting sustainable spaces seen across all Skanska investments. Centrum Południe stands out offering energy efficiency measures saving water natural resources confirmed by platinum-level LEED certificate recognized internationally top-level solutions appreciated PLGBC Green Building Awards jury honoring both complex phases – says Artur Mamrot, Project Manager at Skanska Commercial Development Europe.
Centrum Południe has achieved high LEED certification scores due to lower consumption of energy and water (up-to 40% less energy and 58% less water than baseline LEEF building annually). This is achieved through the surrounding biodiversity-rich green landscaping with concrete walkways purifying air and eliminating harmful NOx particles because of the purifying paint used in the unusual building mural showcasing local biodiversity. Rain gardens, designed in partnership with Peace House Foundation are improving microclimate through cleansing and humidifying excess water which is reducing stormwater drainage amounts into sewers.
