Skanska signed a contract for realization of Kluczbork water reservoir on the Stobrawa river (voivodeship of Opole). Gross value of works will amount to PLM 21,9 m. Construction works will be completed in July 2011.
We are realizing the contract on the order of the Voivodeship Land Melioration and Water Appliances Board in Opole. The investment, aimed at anti-flood protection of the Opole region, will be co-financed from European Regional Development Fund.
Brief facts Kluczbork water reservoir on the Stobrawa river will be situated on the level of Ligota Górna village, on the territory of Kluczbork and Lasowice Wielkie municipalities. The reservoir will retain water, transform anti-flood wave and provide water supply for agricultural irrigations as well as fire protection of the nearby villages and forest areas. It will also enable the development of recreation facilities, water sports and fishing.
The reservoir will be c.a. 1,4 km long, c.a. 600 m wide with average depth of 1,8 – 2 m and maximum back water level capacity 1 683 300 cubic meters.
Scope of works - We will form the reservoir basin as one of the tasks of the project. It will require relocation of c.a 400 000 cubic meters of soils – says Bogdan Wójcik, Site Manager, Skanska. – We will also realize front dam and side dams of total length 2700 m and embankment cubic capacity c.a. 200 000 cubic meters. The investment will also include realization of reinforced concrete overflow-and-sink facility together with a fish ladder and a little water power plant.
Kluczbork water reservoir will be located in a valley with highly permeable subsoil. - Due to this fact, seal of the reservoir up to impermeable layers, i.e. up to the depth c.a. 10-12 m will be the key factor determining the success of this investment – emphasizes Bogdan Wójcik. – Seal will take the form of a water-proof screen. We will realize it in the technology of wet deep soil mixing. The amount of soil to be mixed is c.a. 30 000 square meters.
A company with experience Skanska has got a lot of experience in realization of such projects. So far we have realized i.a. reservoirs in Klimkówka on the Ropa river, in Dobczyce on the Rawa river, in Nielisz on the Wieprz river and a complex of reservoirs Czorsztyn-Niedzica-Sromowce on the Dunajec river. Construction works are currently realized on Świnna Poręba water basin, which is situated on the Skawa river in the vicinity of Wadowice.
For a few years we have been present as a contractor on the territory of the voivodeship of Opole. We realized Water Junction in Kędzierzyn-Koźle and anti-flow protection of the Młynówka and Odra rivers in Opole. At present we are modernizing the building of Physical Education and Physiotherapy in the Opole Technical University campus.
