Sustainability and green
The construction of a 10-unit nursery school in the area of Wilanów in Warsaw took almost 1.5 year. Skanska built a two storey building with a basement under its part. The building, with a total area of 3,000 m2, is equipped with the necessary facilities, among others: sanitary, electrical, central heating, mechanical ventilation, telecom and anti-burglary systems.
There are educational rooms with sanitary and storage facilities, recreation rooms, premises for staff and teachers as well as first aid rooms in the building. The scope of works covered the complete finishing of the building and equipping it with a technically advanced kitchen and a microlift freight elevator for the distribution of meals.
250 children have started education in a newly built facility.
Skanska also implemented access roads to the building, footpaths and a car park. The building was adjusted to the needs of the disabled people.
Approx. 100 people worked at the site during the most intense works. Skanska used approx. 150 tonnes of steel, 1,500 m3 of concrete and performed approx. 2,700 m3 of earthworks.
Safe playgrounds
In the area of the facility, Skanska built three playgrounds for three age groups, separated with greenery. The playground for the youngest ones is located in the western, the most distant from the street, part of the plot. Each facility is equipped with a sandpit and multifunction equipment adjusted to a particular age group, enabling various individual and collective forms of playing. The playground is covered with safe surface. There is also a walking path, tables and benches as well as bicycle racks. There is the fourth playground, roofed with glass screens protecting from wind or rain, on the building’s roof, on the terrace.
