Skanska provided preconstruction and construction services for this $54 million construction management at-risk (CMAR) project involving the 51,000-square foot consolidation of existing security checkpoints and 41,000-square feet of major upgrades to HVAC systems in Terminal C at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

Previously, passengers who moved between gate piers had to leave the secure area and subsequently be rescreened. The two existing TSA security checkpoints (located in the aircraft boarding piers) were consolidated into a single checkpoint located behind the existing ticket counters to create a corridor that allows passengers to walk between the aircraft boarding piers without leaving the secure area.

The HVAC component of this project is the second phase of a terminal-wide HVAC upgrade. The existing infrastructure, located above the ceiling in the main ticketing hall, was antiquated and difficult to access for maintenance. Modifications to the HVAC system necessitated the replacement of the ticketing hall ceiling.
