National road No. 4 connects two border checkpoints: Jędrzychowice at the western border and Korczowa at the eastern border of Poland and constitute a part of international route E-40. Road No. 4 runs through Pilzno in Podkarpackie voivodship. Numerous crossings, exit roads to housing estates, insufficient width of the road and dense urban development caused difficulies in passing through this city. The investor, General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways, decided to increase the road capacity and construct the city bypass.
